Earl Edwards, Loudoun United, and Miguel Almiron: Freedom Kicks for 20 December 2018

MLS: Orlando City SC at Los Angeles Galaxy Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The onslaught of offseason news never stops, and neither do we. To the links!

D.C. United acquires goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. from Orlando City - Black And Red United: With David Ousted likely on the way out, D.C. United has traded a second round pick to get Earl Edwards Jr. He got a number of starts in Orlando’s horror show of a season, so it will be good to see what he can do with a fresh start.

Loudoun United announces 2019 USL schedule - Black And Red United: If you want to see Earl Edwards Jr. and a lot of the next generation of D.C. United players, you now can pencil in your calendar for Loudoun United. All of the games listed are currently scheduled for Audi Field, likely since they don’t yet know when LoCo’s field will be done.

Speaking of Loudoun’s schedule, they (and most of the MLS2 teams) have the highest percentage of midweek games in the USL Championship.

5 options for D.C. United in Stage 2 of the 2018 MLS Re-Entry Draft - Black And Red United: This afternoon is the MLS Re-Entry Draft stage 2; I would expect D.C. United to pick up at least one player, since you can usually find some reasonably priced depth here.

Gay soccer player Collin Martin is Outsports Male Hero of the Year - Outsports: Well deserved for Collin.

We all know it is Almiron who is likely to go, but you can’t rule out MLS adding another DP slot just to keep him.

USMNT TV ratings sink 47% in bleak 2018 for US Soccer Federation - World Soccer Talk: I will admit, I don’t think I’ve watched an entire, start-to-finish, USMNT game since the loss to Trinidad & Tobago. The directionless nature of this state of limbo just hasn’t captured my interest.

But players like these have me excited to see what the team can do now that it has a coach and a direction.

Stejskal: Kinnear, Porter reject Galaxy offers, so where does search go? | MLSsoccer.com: The Galaxy are now on option number 3 at least, with Dom Kinnear and Caleb Porter both rejecting the job. Chris Klein couldn’t even get his college roommate to coach the team.

That’s all I’ve got. What’s up?
