Hi. If you were in the area this weekend, you know it was very nice, so I hope you went out and enjoyed it. As importantly, players report to RFK today as D.C. United’s preseason kicks off, and for new players, they got some sightseeing in:
D.C. United trades #3 pick to LAFC for allocation money (us): Since the end of the season, they’ve racked in more than $500k in General Allocation Money alone, and I’d expect it to be put to use shortly. More on the Black-and-Red’s Friday from Goff and MLS, and Rounds 3 & 4 of the draft saw D.C. pick up a couple folks, which we cover here.
D.C. United releases their 2018 primary jersey (us): It’s fabric. I like it.
Harkes on USMNT call-up: “It was something that I had wanted for a real long time.” (Prost): Ian Harkes talks about the potential cap.
Bruce Arena: US Soccer ‘laid an egg’ in qualifiers (WaPo): Gee, you think so Doctor? SI has more.
Freddy Adu makes “decision” to return to professional soccer (WaPo): Same Freddy, Same.
Erpen revela que sufrió robo en Pachuca (ESPN MX): Startling news out of Mexico as former DC/current Pachuca defender Facundo Erpen was robbed of some items in his dressing room during last weekend’s game.
Inter pick up 1-1 draw with Roma (Serpents of Madonnina): In partner club news, a late Matias Vecino goal helped Inter Milan salvage a result against AS Roma as Serie A returned to action. Inter are tied for 3rd with Lazio but lose on the differential tiebreak, and are in 4th, 3 points ahead of Roma.
