Fantasy Focus: I Piatti the fool

I hope you captained him.

It was DagNRed leading the league this round with a score of 151 points. Leading the team was captain Ignacio Piatti (MTL, $11.6), with 60 points on four goals. Far behind him were Blerim Dzemaili (MTL, $9.2) with 14 points on two assists, and Diego Valeri (POR, $11.3) with 13 points on a goal and an assist. !BL4CKnRED now has a 52 point lead overall.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

Evan Bush (MTL, $5.6) led the position with a clean sheet and 12 points. Not far behind were Jeff Attinella (POR, $4.5) with a clean sheet and 10 points, and D.C. United’s Bill Hamid ($5.6) with a clean sheet and 9 points.

Defenders

Montreal teammates Daniel Lovitz ($4.4) and Laurent Ciman ($6.2) were at the top of the list with 12 and 11 points respectively on the strength of a clean sheet. Rounding out the top three was Jack Elliot (PHI, $4.7), with a goal and 11 points of his own. The D.C. defense was led by the pair of Steve Birnbaum ($5.4) and Sean Franklin ($5.0) with 8 points each, followed by Kofi Opare ($4.4) with 7 points, and both Jalen Robinson ($4.6) and Chris Korb ($4.4) with 1 point.

Midfielders

Ignacio Piatti’s 30 points easily led the midfielders and all players. Graham Zusi (SKC, $8.8) two assists led to 15 points and second place, while Blerim Dzemaili’s 14 points were good for third. For United, Russell Canouse ($6.5) led alongside Paul Arriola ($8.9) with 5 points, followed by both Lloyd Sam ($8.0) and Marcelo Sarvas ($6.8) with 4 points. Luciano Acosta ($8.3) and Nick DeLeon ($5.6) had 3 points, and Jared Jeffrey ($5.0) had 1.

Forwards

Anthony Jackson-Hamel ($5.2) rounded out the Montreal positional lead sweep with 14 points on a goal and two assists. David Villa (NYC, $12.3) had 11 points on a goal and an assist, while both David Accam (CHI, $10.1) and Matteo Mancosu (MTL, $7.4) each scored a goal and 10 points. For DCU, only Patrick Mullins ($8.0) scored 2 points.

Looking Ahead

It’s a two-game extravaganza, as 14 teams play twice this round: Colorado, Columbus, D.C. United, Dallas, Houston, LA, Philadelphia, Portland, RSL, San Jose, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, and Atlanta. Obviously you should be loading up on players from those teams. In goal, I like Jeff Attinella (assuming Jake Gleeson is out again) to get a clean sheet at home against Colorado, even if he doesn’t in Portland’s second game at Seattle. In defense, Chris Wingert (RSL, $4.0) is a sneaky cheap play with home games against San Jose and Colorado, and Cristian Roldan (SEA, $7.8) as a lower-price box score filler in midfield, with games at Vancouver and home against Portland. At forward, you have to keep Clint Dempsey (SEA, $10.1) and his hot streak in.
