Fantasy Focus: Triple Threat

Dempsey and Giovinco for the Nguyen

We have another new overall leader this round, as !BL4CKnRED took over first place with a round-leading 131 points. Captain Lee Nguyen (NE, $10.1) led the team with 32 points on the strength of a goal. Meanwhile, Sebastian Giovinco (TOR, $12.2) scored two goals on the way to 16 points, and Florian Jungwirth (SJ, $5.7) tallied a clean sheet and 12 points.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

San Jose's David Bingham ($5.9) tallied a clean sheet and 12 points, leading the position. Just behind him was the duo of Cody Cropper (NE, $4.0) and Bobby Shuttleworth (MIN, $4.9), both of whom earned a clean sheet and 10 points. For D.C., Bill Hamid ($5.5) chimed in with 4 points.

Defenders

Joevin Jones (SEA, $5.3) had an assist and a clean sheet for a position-leading 14 points, followed by Maynor Figueroa (DAL, $5.8) who paired his clean sheet with a goal for 13 points. A trio of players tied for third with 12 points -- Andrew Farrell (NE, $5.6), Kemar Lawrence (NYR, $5.3), and Florian Jungwirth -- each of whom notched a clean sheet. The United defensive scoreres were Maxim Tissot ($4.5) with 3 points, and both Bobby Boswell ($5.4) and Kofi Opare ($4.4) with 2.

Midfielders

Lee Nguyen's 16 points led the midfielders, and joined a three-way tie for the overall lead. Roland Alberg (PHI, $7.7) scored twice on the way to 12 points, and Anibal Godoy (SJ, $7.3) picked up 11 points in two games. The DCU midfield was led by Jared Jeffrey ($5.4) with 9 points, followed by Lloyd Sam ($8.4) with 7, Sebastien Le Toux ($6.5) with 6, Marcelo Sarvas ($7.0) with 4, Lamar Neagle ($7.5) with 3, Ian Harkes ($5.8) with 2, and Luciano Acosta ($8.7) with 1.

Forwards

Clint Dempsey (SEA, $9.6) paired a goal with an assist for 16 points, joining Sebastian Giovinco in a tie atop the forwards, and the pair joined Lee Nguyen in a three-way overall tie. CJ Sapong (PHI, $7.8) contributed a goal and an assist for 14 points. The lone forward for United was Jose Ortiz ($6.7) with 1 point.

Looking Ahead

Everyone plays once this round, and games start on Friday. Tim Melia (SKC, $5.7) has a clean sheet every other round since round 2, and he's due this week at home against RSL. In defense, I like Alexander Callens (NYC, $4.9) on the road against Columbus. Play Miguel Almiron (ATL, $9.3) in your midfield at home against DCU, and get Cyle Larin (ORL, $9.5) in at home against Colorado.
