Happy Wednesday folks. I’m a bit late this morning because I needed to dry out and my body needed rest after that thrashing last night at RFK. Let’s get into this morning’s news:
Did. Not. See. That. Coming. The USWNT are in serious trouble and in need of some soul searching after getting absolutely destroyed by France, 3-0.
On the men’s side, the United States learned their opponents for the group stage of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The USMNT will face Panama in Nashville July 8th, Martinique in Tampa on July 12th, and either Haiti or Nicaragua in Cleveland on July 15th. This should be an incredibly winnable group, to say the least.
After losing 5-1 in the first leg against Bayern Munich, Arsenal gave their fans hope for the comeback with the early goal. Then, they went ahead and lost 5-1 again, ending Arsenal’s time in the UEFA Champions League.
Napoli tried to do something against Real Madrid, but Sergio Ramos wasn’t having it. The Madrid captain scored two goals to send Los Blancos through to the Champions League quarterfinals.
Manchester United is preparing for their Europa League match against FC Rostov, and Jose Mourinho is already worried about the state of the pitch they will use.
Bobby Wood has played pretty well for Hamburger SV this season, and now is getting interest from Premier League teams. However, Hamburg wants to keep the USMNT star in their shirt next season.
This month could be huge for Christian Pulisic, as he has a chance to play a lot for Borussia Dortmund. With Marco Reus, Mario Gotze and Raphael Guerreiro out with injuries, the young USMNT phenom has an opportunity to move into the Dortmund starting lineup and shine.
Chapecoense won their first international match since almost their entire team perished in a plane crash back in November. Two of the survivors from the plane crash were included in the squad for the match, a 2-1 victory over Zulia in Venezuela.
Alright, that’s the news. Have at it in the comments...I’m going to finally get my day started.
