D.C. United makes contract decisions, RSL stadium handouts & more: Freedom Kicks for 11/27/17

Also, still stuffed from the holiday.

Hi. So you know, D.C. United is supposed to announce whose contracts they’ll be picking or not picking up for 2018, so plan accordingly. One or two of those guys had their 2017 season reviewed over the Thanksgiving break, so take a peak and get caught up to speed, if you please.

Report: Mullins, Robinson to train at Swansea (MLS): Steve Goff first made mention of this, and good on these guys for staying in shape ahead of a 2018 season where a lot will be asked physically.

The biggest off-field moments in soccer culture in 2017 (MLS): Well one is pretty easy to gather for DCU folks, but I forgot about the other.

The Story of the 1996 MLS Cup Final (MLS): This was a nice trip back with some folks on both sides of the midfield line for this.

How Real Salt Lake scored with a huge tax break that went unnoticed — until now (Salt Lake Tribune): Hey, here’s possible future Audi Field headlines in 2023!

Icardi, Inter soar to top of Serie A (Serpents of Madonnina): In partner club news, Mauro Icardi scored his 14th and 15th of the year as Inter Milan beat Cagliari 3-1. The headline was written before Napoli’s win over Udinese Sunday, so Inter stay in 2nd in Serie A.

Clement's side stop the rot in frustrating Liberty Stadium encounter (Wales Online): In other partner club news, Swansea City had a couple of legit goal chance shouts waved off and had to settle for a 0-0 draw with Bournemouth. Swans are a point ahead of last-place Crystal Place (who beat Stoke City) and a point behind West Ham United, with all three teams in the relegation zone. This comes on the heels of some very quick turnover within the Swansea Fans’ Trust, as two Trust Chairman have resigned in the last two weeks as murmurs that Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan may be purchasing additional shares in the club.

Have a Cyber Mon...day!
