Heavy rain and lightning at the Maryland Soccerplex tonight caused the NWSL game between the Washington Spirit and Sky Blue FC to be rescheduled.
UPDATE: Tonight's match has been RESCHEDULED for tomorrow at 11am. Gates open at 10:30 #WASvNJ pic.twitter.com/fvGHOVa0ij

Multiple lines of storms passed through the area forcing a 90-minute delay, during which both teams passed the time by playing baskeball in the gym adjacent to the stadium. At 8:30, with the storms having left standing water in some areas on the field, it was announced that the game would be played Sunday morning. The Maryland Soccerplex has an 11:00pm curfew, so the match would have had to start at or around 9:00pm in order to to play a full 90 minutes. Accounting for the time required for both teams to warm up, it would have been difficult to do all of that by 11:00. All tickets for the match tonight will be honored tomorrow.
