Despite D.C. United not having a game this past week, Filibuster is here for you throughout this MLS break. Ben, Jason, and Adam are here to talk about the Copa America Centenario, in which the USA have won their group. We sing the praises of John Brooks, chastise DeAndre Yedlin, and gawk at the fact that Bobby Wood was played in his correct position for a bit in this game. We also talk about the USMNT’s lineup going into the game against Ecuador, especially with Yedlin out.
We then talk about a real live D.C. United game that you may or may not be able to watch unless you are at the Maryland SoccerPlex this Wednesday. United take on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in US Open Cup play, so we talk about why we love that tournament and what lineups we want to see. We walk down memory lane with all of the former D.C. United players on the Strikers, and ask Jason to preview what we should expect from them.
After the break, we bring on Alicia Tolar of Dynamo Theory to talk about United's weekend game against the Houston Dynamo. We ask what happened to the Dyanmo after their fun start, as well as their replacement of Owen Coyle with Wade Barrett. We ask about the spine of their team, their defensive midfielder and center backs, before talking about their best player so far this season: Andrew Wenger. We ask about United killer Will Bruin, the mysterious case of Erick Torres, and the not so mysterious case of why they traded Brad Davis. Finally, we have to ask about Angry Joe Willis before having Alicia gameplan the Dynamo for us. Give it a listen!
