Fantasy Focus: Weekend Boateng Trip

A big double game week beckons

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The league was led this week by Otten's Army, with a score of 92 points. Sebastian Giovinco (TOR, $12.2) was the captain and led the team with 28 points, scoring two goals. Four players scored 9 points -- Cyle Larin (ORL, $9.2), Lamar Neagle, (DCU, $7.7), Chris Pontius, (PHI, $7.1), and Steven Birnbaum (DCU, $7.7) -- Birnbaum had a clean sheet, and the others had a goal each. !BL4CKnRED-2014Champ is the overall leader.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

Stefan Frei (SEA, $6.1) led the goalkeepers with 10 points on a saved penalty, and David Bingham (SJ, $6.1) was just behind with 9 points on a clean sheet. Three players tied for third with 8 points -- Travis Worra (DCU, $4.0), Andre Blake (PHI, $4.9), and David Ousted (VAN, $6.1) -- they each had a clean sheet.

Defenders

Vancouver's Jordan Harvey ($7.2) paired a clean sheet with a goal for 15 points, easily leading the defenders. Six players tied for second, each of whom tallied clean sheets -- Michael Parkhurst (CLB, $7.7), Birnbaum, Bobby Boswell (DCU, $8.1), Victor Bernardez (SJ, $7.7), Drew Moor (TOR, $7.2), and Fraser Aird (VAN, $6.5). The remaining scoring DCU defenders were Taylor Kemp ($7.7) with 7 points and Sean Franklin ($8.0) with 6.

Midfielders

Three Red Bulls teammates benefited from Hilario Grajeda's incompetency to lead the midfielders in scoring. Sacha Kljestan ($11.3) scored 15 points on two assists, Mike Grella scored 14 points on a goal and an assist, and Lloyd Sam ($9.0) tallied two assists for 10 points. For United, Neagle's 9 points were equaled by Marcelo Sarvas ($8.1), while Patrick Nyarko ($7.0) had 6, Nick DeLeon ($6.5) had 4, Chris Rolfe ($8.8) had 3, and Rob Vincent ($6.0) had 1.

Forwards

Emmanuel Boateng (LA, $7.2) notched a goal and two assists for 16 points, leading all players. Bradley Wright-Phillips (NYR, $10.7) scored two ill-gotten goals for 15 points and 2nd place, followed by Giovani Dos Santos (LA, $11.1) with 14 points on a goal and an assist. For DCU, Alvaro Saborio ($7.7) scored 9 points, Luciano Acosta ($8.8) scored 6, and Fabian Espindola ($10.1) left injured with 1.

Looking Ahead

Six teams play twice -- Montreal, New England, New York City's only team, Portland, Kansas City, and Vancouver. Everyone else plays once. David Ousted is the best goalkeeping choice, with games vs. SKC and @ NYC, while Nuno Andre Coelho (SKC, $7.9) is the leading defender in MLS, so use him @ VAN and vs. LA. In midfield, Benny Feilhaber (SKC, $10.5) is hard to pass up, and at forward go with Fanendo Adi (POR, $10.2) vs. NE and @ TOR.
