Frying up the competition

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Setting the pace with 92 points, Lot H8ers SC sits atop the leaderboard for the round. Marco Pappa (SEA, $9.2) scored 19 points over two matches with two goals, and his teammate, Clint Dempsey ($11.8) wore the armband and contributed 18 points with an assist. Bill Hamid (DCU, $6.4) scored 11 points. Poor Man's Porales scored 79 points and still leads overall.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

Seattle's Stefan Frei ($5.9) scored 14 points with a clean sheet over two games to lead the position. Hamid's 11 points were good for second, and Portland's Adam Kwarasey ($5.6) scored 9 points with a clean sheet over two games to come in third.

Defenders

Kevin Ellis (SKC, $6.1) led all defenders with 18 points, with the rare one-game defender hat trick of goal, assist, and clean sheet. Jeff Larentowicz (CHI, $8.0) came in second with 13 points with a goal and a clean sheet. Three players scored 12 points each -- Liam Ridgewell (POR, $8.5), Tyrone Mears ($6.9), and Jalil Anibaba (SKC, $6.7), with each earning a clean sheet, Mears adding one assist, and Anibaba adding two. For United, Taylor Kemp ($7.7) led with 10 points, while Steve Birnbaum ($7.5) scored 7, Sean Franklin ($8.2) and Chris Korb ($5.6) each scored 4, Kofi Opare ($5.2) scored 3, and both Bobby Boswell ($9.3) and Luke Mishu ($4.5) scored 2. Luke Mishu, I choose you.

Midfielders

Marco Pappa's 19 points led midfielders and all players. Graham Zusi (SKC, $10.8) scored a goal and assisted on two  more for 17 points, and Juninho (LA, $8.3) scored a goal over two matches for 13 points. Chris Rolfe ($9.0) paced the United midfield with 7 points; while Chris Pontius ($7.0) scored 6; Perry Kitchen ($7.6) scored 4; each of Davy Arnaud ($6.5), Markus Halsti ($7.0), and Miguel Aguilar ($5.0) scored 3; Nick DeLeon ($6.4) scored 2, and Facundo Coria ($7.0) scored 1.

Forwards

LA's Ignacio Maganto ($4.7) scored his first MLS goal and assisted another to score 14 points and lead the forwards. Max Urruti (POR, $8.7) also scored and assisted one goal each for 13 points. Both Gyasi Zardes (LA, $9.6) and Krisztian Nemeth (SKC, $8.5) scored 12 points -- Zardes with one goal, Nemeth with a goal and an assist. DC's forwards were led by Jairo "gentille alouette" Arrieta ($6.4) with 4 points, and Conor Doyle ($5.4) with 3.

Looking Ahead

It's another big week for two-gamers, as Chicago, Columbus, D.C., Montreal, Philadelphia, and Vancouver all play twice. Everyone else plays once. Go with Bill Hamid in goal again, as he scores the points even without clean sheets, and United host Chicago and Toronto. I also like the matchups for the Crew, so use Emanuel Pogatetz ($6.4) @Philadelphia and vs. Montreal. Even though they only play once (vs. SEA), Benny Feilhaber (SKC, $10.0) really should be in your team. At forward, Kei Kamara (CLB, $9.1) is a no-brainer.

Everyone's Adding: G - David Ousted (VAN, $5.6, +94), D - Jeff Larentowicz (+302), M - Ethan Finlay (+322), F - Kei Kamara (+413)

Everyone's Dropping: G - Stefan Frei (-68), D - Jamison Olave (RSL, $7.9, -194), M - Dillon Powers (COL, $7.9, -156), F - Gabriel Torres (COL, $7.5, -217)
