Jurgen Klinsmann names USMNT squad for CONCACAF Cup against Mexico

There really isn't anything surprising here.

Fox Sports revealed Jurgen Klinsmann's 23 man roster for next Saturday's CONCACAF Cup match against Mexico. As per usual with Klinsmann's squads, there's nothing really surprising, and it's kind of bland.

The most "shocking" absence from the roster is the LA Galaxy's Omar Gonzalez who hasn't been playing well in recent weeks. Nobody should really miss Mix Diskerud on this roster, because he's been garbage for NYCFC all season long. Unfortunately, John Brooks and Aron Johannsson will miss the match through injuries.

Fortunately for Mexico, Ventura Alvarado was named to the squad. Club America has benched him for the last month for not being a good defender, so one shouldn't be surprised to find him in Klinsmann's starting lineup.

Klinsmann left off Bill Hamid which is probably beneficial for D.C. United. There's really no reason for him to fly across the country for a game that he would be a third string goalkeeper. Nick Rimando can sit on the bench pretty well. Let Bill stay in DC.

The United States will face Mexico at 9:30 PM ET on Saturday, October 10 from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The winner will travel to Russia in the summer of 2017 for the Confederations Cup.
