Concina and Burpo leave D.C. United Coaching Staff

One more a surprise than the other. Does Mike Petke know how to teach goalkeeping?

Paul Frederiksen-USA TODAY Sports

Hot on the heels of news of D.C. United assistant coach Enzo Concina returning to Canada to be an assistant coach for the Montreal Impact, Goff reports that Concina did not have his contract renewed. The bigger surprise is the departure of goalkeepers coach Preston Burpo, who Goff says declined a contract renewal to move out West.

Burpo certainly had played some part in Bill Hamid's breakthrough season which earned him goalkeeper of the year for 2014, and his work scouting other teams for PK tendencies was key in the team's 2013 U.S. Open Cup run. Additionally, Goff mentions that Amos Magee has joined the staff full-time after splitting time between the first team and U-23 squad which honestly, I thought he already was.

So...bye bye...Burpo.
