D.C. United jumps into the US Open Cup tonight against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL. United had a bad showing against the third division last year, losing to the Rochester Rhinos, but are looking to rebound this year.
This is what rebuilt the team in 2013. Let's get to it.
Kickoff time: 7:00 PM
Venue: Highmark Stadium, Pittsburgh, PA
TV/Streaming: US Soccer is streaming the game on YouTube, so grab your computer/tablet/Chromecast/Xbox and get to watching!
Projected lineup: As I predicted earlier, I think this is going to be a very backup heavy lineup. Expect Andrew Dykstra to start in goal, with Jalen Robinson, Kofi Opare, Chris Korb, and Luke Mishu in some order in the defense. The midfield will Facundo Coria, Markus Halsti, Jared Jeffrey, and Miguel Aguilar, and the forwards will be Luis Silva and Conor Doyle. Only one full-time starter!
Prediction: After the embarrassment last year, United needs to get this done this year. 3-1 for the good guys and the move on to meet a likely MLS team.
What are you drinking? I'm in the press box for the Richmond Kickers, so I'm grooving on a diet Pepsi.
As always, this is your place for pre-game, in-game and post-game chatter. Vamos!
