Today's Freedom Kicks play fast and loose with the definition of "news."

Patrick McDermott

Good morning, United fans. I'm running late this morning, so let's jump right into the links.

D.C. United Managing Partner Jason Levien | The Kojo Nnamdi Show
Yesterday, we brought you news from Kojo's interview with D.C. United's managing partner, and now you can go watch the full thing (yes, there's in-studio video!). The focus is mostly on the proposed stadium at Buzzard Point, but late in the segment, you can see Levien handle questions from listeners with aplomb.

Vote now for 2014 AT&T MLS Goal of the Week: Week 28 | MLSsoccer.com
Diego Valeri's volley is getting all the press, but you should go here and vote for Luis Silva's free kick, which would be a near shoo-in for GOTW a lot of weeks.

Vote now for MLS Save of the Week: Week 28 | MLSsoccer.com
Similarly, Luis Robles is a mortal lock to win this week's SOTW, but Bill Hamid is nominated (proving the earth still spins around the sun), and so you should do your civic duty and go vote for #28.

MLS's criticized logo has some innovative qualities | ESPN FC
Throwing back to last week and #MLSNEXT, Graham Parker is trying to come to grips with the new league logo shield crest. I still think the crest itself is only part of the equation, as it's not meant to be viewed in isolation (raising the question why they launched it as a standalone thing, but MLS gonna MLS).

Spare a thought for Chivas USA this morning, as some writers are now openly musing about don't-call-it-relegating the team down a couple divisions for a year because reasons.

New South, new sport: Atlanta’s own soccer team coming soon | Al Jazeera America
Another Graham Parker piece for you this morning, this one coming from Al Jazeera's US outlet. It's a really thoughtful look at the surprisingly, well, thoughtful approach Arthur Blank is taking for his 2017 MLS expansion club.

We'll throw it open to you with this link and a question: What MLS character would make a good bachelor party costume (assuming there is such a thing as "a good bachelor party costume")?
