Freedom Kicks: D.C. United, MLS and U.S. men's national team links for 13 May 2014

Yesterday was the Day of Big Announcements in the world of American soccer. Today is the day after that day. That's the kind of wisdom you can only get from Freedom Kicks.

We'll get to the post-actually major announcement(s) stuff in a second, but let's start today's Freedom Kicks with something a bit more D.C. United focused.

Two DCU players and hat trick hat trick on MLS Team of the Week - Goal.com
Bill Hamid gets the nod thanks to his spectacular saves in the shutout performance against the Union this weekend (even if his play on corner kicks was a bit more ulcer-inducing), and Bobby Boswell gets some recognition for his 12 clearances.

Vote now for MLS Save of the Week: Week 10 | MLSsoccer.com
Speaking of Bill Hamid's theatrics, his massive double-save last weekend is up for Save of the Week. So go vote, why don't you?

Matt Doyle's weekly wrapup column is a must-read, and he spends a chunk of it talking (well, letting Charlie Boehm talk) about D.C. United's tactical evolution this year. Basically, Fabian Espindola and Chris Rolfe are what make United work in the final third.

This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This.

Poll: Johnson’s omission from U.S. camp | Soccer Insider
I can't say I agree with the majority in agreeing with Jurgen Klinsmann's decision to leave Eddie Johnson off the 30-man provisional World Cup roster yesterday. I still think he'd be more useful to the USMNT than any of John Brooks, DeAndre Yedlin or Julian Green, all of whom figure to be important to the 2018 effort but are luxuries in this cycle.

And finally, a reminder to always listen to the 'Little Voice in Your Stomach' | iSpot.tv
I mean, it works for Richard Sherman (who is surprisingly funny saying "Little Voice in My Stomach??" Hey, anybody else want beef jerky?
