There's never a wrong time to go back and watch this video.
This week's Throwback Thursday post goes to the not-so-distant past of 2012, the last time D.C. United hosted a game with complete control of their playoff destiny. Like I said, there's never a wrong time to share the video of the game that first gave us LEWIS NEAL, but this video is especially appropriate today, with the Black-and-Red hosting Sporting Kansas City tomorrow night. Like that October night two years ago, United need just a draw to clinch their spot in the playoffs. Hopefully Ben Olsen & Co. go one better, as they did in 2012, and get the W.
Lewis Neal - sorry, LEWIS NEAL - is still on the team, but a lot of names from that 2012 lineup are obviously gone. Hamdi Salihi and Branko Boskovic didn't return after that season. Dejan Jakovic, Brandon McDonald and Marcelo Saragosa were victims of 2013 and the ensuing roster rebuild that now has RFK rocking again. In their place are Fabian Espindola and Luis Silva; Steve Birnbaum and Bobby Boswell and Davy Arnaud.
That was a fun night against the Columbus Crew at RFK back in 2012, and tomorrow should be another fun night, this time against a reeling KC. Regardless, there's never a wrong time to watch this video... or the one below, of Lucky Number 13, which turned one year old yesterday (and which some of you probably expected for today).
