Fantasy Focus: What?

The average value of the four positional leaders this week is $5.15M. The most expensive player to lead a position this week is worth $5.6M. Okay.

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The only team to reach the 100-point mark this week, Carl Sagan Cosmos took a personal voyage to 104 points and the top the weekly leaderboard. Leading the way was Lamar Neagle (SEA, $5.6M,) who wore the armband and scored 34 points over two matches, notching 2 goals. Dan Kennedy (CHV, $5.0M) earned a clean sheet and scored 13 points over his two games, and Rodney Wallace (POR, $5.4M) earned a clean sheet and added a goal over his two games for 12 points. Stop me if you've heard this before, but SGV Galaxy still leads overall.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

Dan Kennedy's 13 points led all goalkeepers. Tally Hall (HOU, $6.0M) scored 12 points, and both Michael Gspurning (SEA, $5.8M) and Clint Irwin (COL, $5.8M) scored 10 points. D.C.'s Bill Hamid ($4.8M) scored 4 points.

Defenders

Somehow, some way, Marc Burch (SEA, $4.6M), added a clean sheet to 2 assists over two games for 19 points to lead all defenders and all players overall. Far behind him was Eric Gehrig (CLB, $3.6M) with 13 points, and the aforementioned Rodney Wallace's 12 points. Among United defenders, Dennis Orange Mocha Iapichino ($4.3M) led with 4 points, while Ethan White ($4.2M) had 3, both Conor Shanosky ($3.9M) and Chris Korb ($4.0M) had 2, and Daniel Woolard ($4.0M) had 1.

Midfielders

Lamar Neagle's 17 points led all midfielders. Montreal's Patrice Bernier ($7.6M) converted two penalty kicks and scored 14 points, and San Jose's Shea Salinas ($7.6M) scored 11 points. DCU's Perry Kitchen ($5.5M) scored 4 points; each of Nick DeLeon ($7.4M), LEWIS NEAL! LEWIS NEAL! ($5.2M), and Luis Silva ($7.1M) scored 3 points; Collin Martin ($5.5M) scored 2 points; and Chris Pontius ($8.1M) and Sainey Nyassi ($5.6M) both scored 1 point.

Forwards

Columbus' Justin Meram ($5.4M) led all forwards with 14 points on the strength of a goal and an assist. Marco Di Vaio (MTL, $9.1M) scored a brace for 12 points, and each of Ryan Finley (CLB, $5.2M,) Jason Johnson (HOU, $5.4M), and Erick Torres (CHV, $7.6M) scored 10 points. United's Conor Doyle ($6.9M) scored 2 points.

Looking Ahead

Sporting Kansas City is the only team on bye this week, while both Toronto and Chicago play twice. Los Angeles will have their stars back, and they're playing DCU so get those guys in, especially goalkeeper Jaime Penedo ($4.9M.) In defense, try on Austin Berry (CHI, $5.0) because he's faily inexpensive, and should get you some points at Toronto and vs. New England this week. Patrice Bernier has quietly scored 33 points in his last 4 games, so give him a look this week vs. Columbus. Lastly, New England's Diego Fagundez ($6.6M) has 25 points in his last 3 games, so get him now for his game at Chicago before his price goes up 2 weeks from now vs. DCU.
