D.C. United is coming off a two game losing streak - both on the road, both in the Eastern Conference. We now take brief pause from the critical current MLS schedule to experience a slight diversion in the form of an international friendly. Some of the greatest soccer players in the world will be on display at RFK Stadium tonight. And Paris Saint-Germain will be there as well.
Game time: 7:30 PM
Television: The match won't be televised live, but it will be shown on tape delay on Fox Soccer at 10:00 PM
Projected starting lineup: For the most part, I'd expect to see the majority of United's starters from last week's loss to the Columbus Crew. Even though Dwayne De Rosario and Chris Pontius already featured in the MLS All-Star Game earlier this week, they'll still both start and play 45 minutes. Hamdi Salihi will partner with DeRo up top this time, with Danny Cruz, Lewis Neal, and Perry Kitchen filling out the midfield. We'd love to see United use this match as a good chance to get Emiliano Dudar back into the starting lineup, where he'll be joined on the back line by Daniel Woolard, Dejan Jakovic, and Chris Korb, with Bill Hamid behind them in goal.
Prediction: Most of the MLS teams have been holding their own so far this year against European competition. But with the big guns of PSG playing together for the first time, I'd expect to see some impressive displays from them. I'm predicting an entertaining 3-2 loss for D.C.
What are you drinking? Judge all you want. I'm drinking my new favorite, which I'm sure AMT will also call a 17-year old girl's drink. Root beer and Whipped vodka.
