The unbalanced schedule this year in the MLS has its quirks. We get to experience one of those quirks right here. D.C. United is wrapping up three straight games at home with a match against the Houston Dynamo, and will then immediately afterward wrap up three straight games on the road with a match against the very same team. That match on May 12 will mark the opening of the Dynamo's brand new stadium. That raucous event in front of a surely biased crowd will be a tough challenge for United. All the more reason why three points here at home are vitally important.
Game time: 7:30 PM
Television: Comcast SportsNet
Projected starting lineup: As you may have read here earlier this week, the starting lineup that United will use tonight is probably easier to predict that anything else we've seen all year. That's because it will be the exact same lineup that beat the New York Red Bulls 4-1 on Sunday. Joe Willis will remain in goal, with Daniel Woolard, Emiliano Dudar, Brandon McDonald, and Robbie Russell in front of him. Nick DeLeon, Dwayne De Rosario, Perry Kitchen, and Danny Cruz will occupy the midfield with our two leading goalscorers Maicon Santos and Chris Pontius up top.
Prediction: The Dynamo will have a tough time scoring against this United team, and probably can't be expected to score more than a single goal at most, but by no means will they be an easy out. Their big and compact defense will keep this game close throughout, but I have United winning 1-0, with the goal coming from a DeRo penalty kick.
What are you drinking? To send good vibes to our captain in hopes that he scores, I'm going back to an old favorite: Captain and Coke.
