By the time that the final whistle blows on the match between D.C. United and the LA Galaxy on Sunday night, Bruce Arena's boys will have played four matches in 12 days.
The third of the Galaxy's four matches is about to get underway at the Home Depot Center as Toronto FC visit in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals. The team just announced its starting lineup on Twitter, and its a damn good one.
#lagalaxy starting XI: Saunders, Franklin, DeLaGarza, Meyer, Dunivant; Magee, Juninho, Beckham, Donovan; Buddle, Keane
Of the four matches that LA is playing in this two week span, which includes two CCL matches, and one huge season opener against Real Salt Lake, this Sunday's against United is easily the least important to them. If we're ever going to see the Galaxy give veteran guys like David Beckham and Robbie Keane a rest, its this Sunday. Even though we'll be missing some key players due to the Olympics, United could have a real advantage.
Those Galaxy players who do still play though are bound to be spent. RSL scored three goals in the final 17 minutes of their match last week, and the tired legs of the Galaxy players were blamed by many in the media. So if they were tired after just 163 minutes of action in 2012, what will they be on Sunday night?
