DC United issued a press release earlier today stating that Saturday's match against the Portland Timbers will start at 2pm rather than the scheduled 7:30pm kick off. The planned Latin Fest and the induction of Richie Williams into the club's Hall of Tradition will both be postponed. CSN Washington will show the game live from 2pm, and will also re-air the match at 8pm as well for anyone that can't make it out to RFK. Hurricane Irene, currently moving up the coastline, is expected to become severe later in the evening. A 2pm kickoff will probably see some amount of wind and rain, but hopefully will be early enough to avoid the real rough stuff. Playing in the afternoon also means no danger of power outages forcing a replay at a later date.
