The Black-and-Red Award Train Keeps on Rolling

7

For the third straight week, a DC United player has claimed the MLS Player of the Week crown. This week it's third-year midfielder Chris Pontius, who netted a brace against Vancouver to bring his season goal tally to seven. Dwayne De Rosario won the award in each of the last two weeks. We might have to add another nickname to the laundry list of monickers Pontius has acquired since arriving in DC from UCSB. There's already Party Boy and Pretty Pretty Princess (and probably lots more I can't think of at the moment). If he keeps up his current form, though, defenders around the league will have to start just calling him Sir.
