GameThread 22: D.C. United Vs. Vancouver Whitecaps

Its Tom Soehn vs. Chad Ashton. The Sorcerer and the Apprentice! Or something like that. With Ben Olsen serving a suspension for his outburst last week, DC United will be without their fearless leader when facing the Vancouver Whitecaps for the first time ever. They'll also be without Bill Hamid, and so the team will turn to rookie third round draft pick Joe Willis in net. Willis has apparently passed Steve Cronin on the depth chart after Cronin disappointed in emergency relief last Saturday against Toronto FC.

Game time: 7:30 PM

TV: Comcast SportsNet

Projected starting lineup: As Chest told you earlier, the Whitecaps can be exposed on the wings. Fortunately for us, United will have Andy Najar back in form and in the starting lineup after serving a one-game suspension last week. Chris Pontius, Clyde Simms, and Santino Quaranta will join Najar in the midfield, with Quaranta set to take the central attacking midfield role. Charlie Davies will also be back in the starting 11 after recovering from a minor injury, where he'll be joined up top by the two-time consecutive MLS Player Of the Week Dwayne De Rosario. United's backline remains unchanged with Perry Kitchen, Dejan Jakovic, Brandon McDonald, and Daniel Woolard.
