D.C. United is coming off an undefeated streak of five straight games against quality opponents that we never would have expected earlier in the year. Problem is, so are the San Jose Earthquakes.
These two teams with identical records each seem to be improving, despite each missing their team-leading six goal scorers for the past few games. Charlie Davies will be back in the starting lineup though tonight for United, while Chris Wondolowski remains out on international duty for the Gold Cup.

Projected starting lineup: United's top six players will all be healthy enough to start this week. Despite his recently good form, Blake Brettschneider will give way in the starting lineup to Davies and Josh Wolff. Andy Najar and Chris Pontius will try to take advantage of the mediocre outside backs of the Earthquakes, while Clyde Simms and Dax McCarty will lock down the middle. The backline will likely be unchanged from last week's clean sheet against the Los Angeles Galaxy with Chris Korb in at right back, Perry Kitchen and Ethan White in the middle, and Daniel Woolard on the left.
I'll be unavailable to watch live due to a work function, but will rejoin you in the morning with a full match review and player ratings. In the mean time though, leave me your thoughts in the comments because this is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game discussion.
