In a video interview ahead of his team's match against D.C. United today, Colorado Rapids coach Gary Smith said that "If D.C. take this game too lightly, and feel as though they will run away with it, it will be their Achilles heel."
As strange as it may seem for the statistically worst team from 2010 to be favorites against the 2010 MLS Cup Champions, that's the situation that we seem to have on our hands here tonight as the visitors have plenty of injury problems. But Smith shouldn't worry about United taking the game too lightly. Ben Olsen is sure to have his team prepared.
Game time: 7:30 PM
Television: Comcast SportsNet
Projected starting lineup: I imagine that United will use the exact starting lineup that defeated the Seattle Sounders last Wednesday, which means that Charlie Davies and Josh Wolff will partner again up top; Andy Najar, Clyde Simms, Dax McCarty, and Chris Pontius will all feature in the midfield. The back line that has given up only a penalty kick goal in 180 minutes of action together will be united again as Daniel Woolard, Dejan Jakovic, Ethan White, and Perry Kitchen are all likely to start with goalkeeper Bill Hamid behind them.
