After two disappointing road losses, DC United returns home to RFK Stadium to face the defending Supporters' Shield winning Los Angeles Galaxy. This battle between the two most storied franchises in MLS history will attract somewhere in the ballpark of 25,000 to RFK tonight. Hopefully you'll be one of them.
Time: 7:30 PM
Television: No local broadcast. You can watch the game via Direct Kick or MLSsoccer.com's MatchDay Live.
Starting lineup: Once again the biggest unanswered questions for United are at the top of the formation. Is today the day that Charlie Davies gets his first start? It will be hard for the team to sit Josh Wolff or Chris Pontius. Rookie Blake Brettschneider is also a good candidate, and if he is to start, then United would likely be starting three out of its four 2011 draft picks because Chris Korb and Perry Kitchen seem assured of starting on the back-line. They'll be joined by Dejan Jakovic and Marc Burch. The midfield will almost certainly feature Clyde Simms and Dax McCarty in the middle, while the wings will probably be occupied by Andy Najar and Branko Boskovic.
Am I forgetting something? Oh yeah, the goalkeeper position. The prospects are about even, but just about everyone in the stadium will be hoping to see Bill Hamid make his 2011 regular season debut ahead of Pat Onstad.
I'll be in the press box tonight offering up commentary. This is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game discussions.
