D.C. United may be fielding its strongest starting lineup of the season tonight as the team travels north of the border to take on Toronto FC. With Charlie Davies likely to make his first career MLS start, three points could be in the cards. And with United's top center back pairing starting in front of Bill Hamid, a shutout is a legit possibility as well.
Game time: 7:00 PM
Television: Fox Soccer Channel
Projected starting lineup: The returns of Perry Kitchen from youth national team duty and Dejan Jakovic from suspension mean that United will have the same CB pairing as they had in their one and only win of the season. Its the first time though that we'll have two Akron rookies starting together, as Chris Korb will continue to fill in for the injured Jed Zayner. Marc Burch and Dax McCarty will continue their starting streaks for United, while Chris Pontius's may be in jeopardy as Ben Olsen will once again have to choose between Pontius, Andy Najar, and Branko Boskovic on the wings. I think the Montenegran and the Honduran will get the starts, but I've been wrong before (more often than not). Up top, Davies should finally get the nod, and will probably be joined by fellow USMNT forward Josh Wolff.
This is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game discussions. And with the team on the road and rain covering the entire D.C. area, discussion is something I'm expecting plenty of. Have at it!
