GameThread 2: D.C. United Vs. New England Revolution

D.C. United made its 3-1 win over the Columbus Crew look fairly easy last week. At least in the second half. We don't expect today's match against the New England Revolution to be quite so easy though, even though their roster is similarly depleted. Being on the road certainly doesn't help.

Time: 4:30 PM

Television: Comcast SportsNet

Starting Lineup: One of the only questions about United's starting lineup is whether Charlie Davies will be on the field from the opening whistle, or come off the bench in place of Joseph Ngwenya in the second half. No matter, the striker will certainly see some time opposite Josh Wolff at the top of the formation. United's midfield is likely to include Kurt Morsink filling in for the injured Clyde Simms, but will remain otherwise unchanged with Andy Najar and Chris Pontius on the wings, and Dax McCarty in an advanced role in the middle. Pat Onstad will be in net once again and will have Marc Burch, Dejan Jakovic, Rodrigo Brasesco, and probably Chris Korb in front of him.

I think it's going to be very important for United not to fall behind early in this one. With a compact and conservative defensive team like the Revolution, D.C. won't be able to counter attack with much success if they trail late in the game. Grabbing a goal in the first half or retaining a clean sheet will be vital to victory.
