MLS Week 2 Schedule, TV Options, Predictions

The first week of our MLS predictions contest went just the way most of you should have been hoping. The results are as follows:

Readers 7, Chest 6, AMT 4, Martin 2.

Ouch.

That's okay. It's not like I should be expected to know anything about MLS...

Friday March 25, 10:00 PM: Seattle Sounders vs. Houston Dynamo, FSC
Martin: Seattle. Chest: Seattle. AMT: Tie.

For all the credit the Sounders get for filling their stadium, the strong attendance numbers haven't provided much of a competitive advantage. Meanwhile, the Dynamo have attempted to get better by freeing themselves of Dominic Oduro. (Martin)

Saturday March 26, 4:30 PM: New England Revolution vs. DC United, CSN-MA
Martin: Tie. Chest: Tie. AMT: D.C.

Landon Donovan didn't punish the Revs for giving him space and time on the ball last weekend. Tired legs for LD? Either way, I think Chris Pontius and Andy Najar will find a way through. (AMT)

Saturday March 26, 2:00 PM: Toronto FC vs. Portland Timbers
Martin: TFC. Chest: Tie. AMT: TFC.

Who has Kenny Cooper and Dwayne De Rosario on their fantasy team? If there was ever an MLS match that was likely to end up 7-7, this is it, because these are the worst two defensive teams in MLS. (Chest)

Saturday March 26, 4:00 PM: Columbus Crew vs. New York Red Bulls
Martin: Tie. Chest: Tie. AMT: NY.

NY's available squad for this one looks like what you'd see them field against a PDL team in the first round of the US Open Cup. That should still be enough to grind out a result in Columbus, where the wheels are already wobbling. (Chest)

Saturday March 26, 4:00 PM: Philadelphia Union vs. Vancouver Whitecaps
Martin: PU. Chest: PU. AMT: PU.

Goodbye warm, fuzzy Toronto D. Hello, Danny Califf! (AMT)

Saturday March 26, 4:00 PM: Chicago Fire vs. Sporting Kansas City, Telefutura
Martin: KC. Chest: KC. AMT: KC.

After Chad Ochocinco fails to earn a contract this week, the Sporks will invite some other star athletes to training: Brian Boitano, Kobayashi, and the cast of Cool Runnings. (Martin)

Saturday March 26, 9:00 PM: FC Dallas vs. San Jose Earthquakes
Martin: FCD. Chest: FCD. AMT: Tie.

Its the 2010 MVP vs. the 2010 Golden Boot winner. I'll take the Jacket in this one. (Martin)

Saturday March 26, 9:00 PM: Real Salt Lake vs. Los Angeles Galaxy
Martin: RSL. Chest: RSL. AMT: RSL.

Does MLS want Real Salt Lake to win #TheQuad? Nice job scheduling what should be RSL's most difficult home match of the year against a Galaxy team that will be missing Donovan due to an international call-up. (Martin)

Saturday March 26, 10:30 PM: Chivas USA vs. Colorado Rapids
Martin: Colorado. Chest: Colorado. AMT: Colorado.

Tough to pick against the defending champs. Robin Fraser will make sure the Chivas D shows up this week, but I think that Colorado strike force finds a way through. (AMT)
