GameThread 1: D.C. United Vs. Columbus Crew

It all starts tonight for D.C. United. New hope. Redemption.

United kicks off the 2011 season tonight against the visiting Columbus Crew in what should be a packed RFK Stadium to see the debut of forward Charlie Davies in black-and-red. But you'll probably have to wait until the second half to see him.

Time: 7:30 PM

TV: Comcast SportsNet

Starting Lineup: The veteran Pat Onstad will be starting in net, at least for the first few weeks of the season. In front of him will be Jed Zayner, Dejan Jakovic, and Marc Burch, who are all back-line holdovers from last season, and they'll be joined by rookie Perry Kitchen. The midfield "problem" that we discussed in detail earlier in the week will tonight be solved by (right to left) Andy Najar, Dax McCarty, Clyde Simms, and Chris Pontius. And up top will be the two re-entry draft acquisitions Joseph Ngwenya and Josh Wolff.

Will United give their fans reason to cheer against a Crew team that has questions of its own?
