D.C. United has played four games so far this preseason, and they've won every single damn one of them. The first big test of the preseason though will come on Friday, when United faces an MLS team for the first time. They'll be stopping by the Home Depot Center for a match against Chivas USA, and then will return to the east coast to defend their title in the Carolina Challenge Cup.

The star of today's game for D.C. was supplemental draft choice Blake Brettschneider, a forward out of the University of South Carolina. Brettschneider had two of the team's three goals while playing as a right midfielder. In another positive development for the club, 22-year old Columbian trialist Sergio Villarreal scored the final goal of the match. Brandon Barklage also ontinued his strong preseason with an assist while playing on the left wing. Stephen King and Chris Pontius (from a free kick!) assisted on the other two goals.

Its also worth noting that Pat Onstad recorded a shut-out in the first half, despite United playing with just 10-men for a good portion of the half.

Brettschneider spoke with United's Alex Caulfield after the game about playing right midfield.

"It's a position I've played in the past. Although I'm more of a forward by nature, I've been able to spend some more time out there in training, and slowly I'm getting more comfortable out wide. Wherever they want me is fine, I just want to be on the field."

Hey Blake. Keep scoring, and you will.
