Following a busy schedule of games over the holiday weekend, our new rankings have a couple teams bouncing back and forth between the middle two tiers. FC Dallas and the Chicago Fire each made the short jump up this week, even though neither team had spectacularly compelling results. Dallas's 1-0 victory over the lowly Wizards was to be expected, while Chicago's 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Columbus Crew did little to improve their position in the league. To be honest, I've been voting Chicago for the second tier for a few weeks now, based mainly on the quietly excellent season that Marco Pappa is having, but I'm not sure what the other bloggers saw specifically this week in their loss to bump them up.
Falling from the second tier this week are the San Jose Earthquakes, who were in the top tier as recently as week 9. Their unimpressive home draw with D.C. United is more proof that the 'Quakes may have been overachieving earlier in the season.
The top and the bottom remain unchanged. In fact, all seven voters this week had the Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, and Crew in that order at the top.
