The day before the Women's World Cup starts in Canada, the USMNT is set to take on The Netherlands this afternoon in their lead-up to this summer's Gold Cup. It is a primarily non-MLS lineup, but Michael Bradley has been called in and therefore won't face D.C. United tomorrow in league play.
Hopefully some of the younger players will get a run-out with the Gold Cup approaching, and it is always interesting to see just what Jurgen Klinsmann has in mind at any given moment. Will Brek Shea start at left back? Will Jordan Morris start in goal? Will Michael Bradley play as a target striker? Its Friday, so watch and find out!
USMNT Starting XI: I think that Aaron Johhansson and Juan Agudelo start up top, with Michael Bradley *sigh* still playing attacking midfield right behind them. The rest of the diamond looks to be Danny Williams, Mix Diskerud, and Alfredo Morales, while the defense will have Brek Shea, John Brooks, Ventura Alverado, and Fabian Johnson. Brad Guzan will start in goal.
Match previews: Our pals at Stars and Stripes FC have a preview, as does US Soccer and MLS. Jason always has his thoughts, as well as TV and streaming info, in the how to watch thread.
Prediction: It is against the Dutch, in Netherlands, with a rather young team. 3-1 to the Dutch, though unlike most of Jurgen's recent games it will look better than it seems.
What are you drinking? I'm off work today, and so I am drinking a planter's punch!
