Really any excuse not to dwell on D.C. United's two losses last week in Seattle and Colorado would do. But we got more than one: trades and signings, a bye week, the midpoint of the 2013 MLS season, and a continental tournament. It's an embarrassment of
deflection riches for us write-y, talk-y types. So on this week's episode of Filibuster - the Black and Red United Podcast, we managed not to talk about United's recent (lack of) results except in passing. And I think it's a better episode for it.
We start off with a roster news roundup, covering everything since the team announced they had signed former U.S. youth international Jared Jeffrey, right up through Steve Goff's scoop on Collin Martin's homegrown deal yesterday afternoon. In the middle part of the show, we take a step back and take a look at MLS more broadly so we can give out our much-coveted midseason awards. (Truly, the most prestigious midseason awards there are among SB Nation-affiliated D.C. United-centered podcasts.) We close out by looking at the path ahead of the United States Men's National Team in this month's Gold Cup.
We always have fun recording the show, and here's hoping you enjoy listening.
