Entering Week 10, there were a few teams that were poised to separate themselves from the pack to become the cream of the crop in Major League Soccer. It's at this point of the season where a few teams realize that if they want to be considered the best in MLS, they have to go out and make a statement. They either beat a team that is also among the top squads, or they pummel one of the bottom feeders or mid-table opponent. In the process, they let the rest of the league know that they're coming for the throne.
So, who's taking it this year? There are a couple teams so far that are starting to make that case: the LA Galaxy and the Colorado Rapids. One of those teams, the Galaxy, are perennially thought of to be one of the teams that will be contenders. Colorado is usually hovering way down at the bottom of the standings. Still, both teams are trying to take control of the standings, while others (we're looking at you, Columbus Crew SC) would rather fight amongst themselves. For the rest of the teams, there is still a chance to state their case for being thrown in with the contenders. If they want to do that, many teams have to show a lot more than what they are showing.
The top 3 teams remain the same from last week, while Columbus Crew SC get added to the basement based mostly in part to their implosion against Montreal and the public spat between Kei Kamara and Federico Higuain that ignited the fire. Our beloved D.C. United had a bad week and they drop down to 18th. But, now we get to hear from you. Is United worse or better than they've played? What did you think of the Crew's meltdown? Are Colorado and LA the top dogs or is there another team that's earned top billing? Comments time...give us your thoughts!
