Back in 2011, the Vancouver Whitecaps were in their first year of MLS existence, and Steven King was a guy we referred to around these parts as "The Standard." These are both important things to remember as you watch this week's Throwback Thursday video, which features a surprisingly attacking Steven King in D.C. United's first ever match against the 'Caps. (Yes, Vancouver fans use that apostrophe, and good thing, too, or else we might think they were lost and looking for Japers Rink - a not unreasonable assumption given the whole hockey thing Canada has going.)
With Chris Pontius' return to the lineup looking more likely by the week, now is as good a time as ever to bring up a video clip of Partyboy scoring a brace, though sadly neither the goal didn't utilize his trademark Pontius Special. CP13 was joined on the scoresheet by Andy Najar, Dwayne De Rosario and the aforementioned Kinger. Only a couple big saves from Joe Willis kept an in-form Eric Hassli from finding some joy for Vancouver.
Here's a fun game to play as you watch the highlights above: Where Are They Now? See how many players you can spot in this game and state decisively where they ply their trade nowadays. Take to it in the comments.
