Eddie Johnson: "I want to have an opportunity to go back and play" in Florida

In an interview with his hometown paper, the Daytona Beach New Journal, forward Eddie Johnson said he would like to eventually return and play in front of his friends and family in Florida.

"When the (now-defunct) Tampa Bay Mutiny and Miami Fusion were in the league, I wanted to be drafted by one of those teams, and unfortunately that didn't happen," he said. "Florida's very deserving of an MLS franchise because soccer's so big in Florida. Still to this day, I want to have an opportunity to go back and play, week in and week out, in front of all my family that don't get an opportunity to travel and can only watch me play on TV. "That's something that, before I retire, I would love to do."

This can't be too surprising for someone who spent most of their career on the farthest reaches from Eastern Florida, but it still kinda sucks.

The interview is short, but worth a read.
