I know it's early in the preseason but a month out it seems some of our key players are already injured. Though Chris Pontius, CP13, or Party boy as he's know to us D.C fans is out recovering from his surgeries he had at the end of the last season. Now this leaves 4 other players with minor injuries and true the team is getting into fitness again but this kinda worries me. These players include:
Chris Korb ( There was no move for a LB this offseason, probably our starting left back)
(bone bruise, knee)
LEWIS NEAL (Back up depth, very important for those certain occasions)
Nana Attakora ( back up depth, maybe starting will have to see as the preseason goes on)
(bone bruise, knee)
Casey Townsend (Pure back up depth at this point, maybe heads to richmond again)
Fabian Espindola (One of our main strikers for this season, along side EJ)
Now I know they have minor injuries like bone bruising or maybe a sprain but this pretty serious, that we have this many players out already and we have only played one game this preseason. Now this doesn't include the injury that EJ picked up when he was playing with the USMNT. For all purposes and intents lets just say he is fit and ready to go. No reports on a major injury for him but, he did have a strain so I don't know if when he gets back if he starts or not.
This only really worries me due to the fact that two of our potential starters on the team are out for injury right now and one of our key back up players is injured as well. These are the guys we are going to need when we hit the main season in a month. Now true these are short term injuries but we need the team at full strength and I really see these injuries as a set back for the team's fitness levels before we hit the season. True we have a month to get everyone back but still kinda hoping we get everyone back into the squad before we end the preseason.
These injuries were a part of Steven Goff's notes at the last up date here
