According to a report out of Guatemala, Guatemalan international and former VCU midfielder Jose Carlos Castillo may soon be on trial with D.C. United. He is apparently trialing at three teams: Sporting Kansas City right now, then D.C. United next week, and finally with the Columbus Crew. He was originally signed by the Durgapur Vox Champions of the Bengal Premier League Soccer for $80,000, but their season (which was supposed to begin in February) has been postponed. This rumor is given more weight by the fact that VCU's head soccer coach has been tweeting about his players trialing with SKC. Dave Giffard, VCU's coach, is in Kansas City with Castillo and other VCU players at SKC's training. Might some (or all?) of these other players also trial with D.C. United? Time will tell.
