DC United has the best fans in MLS. I think that's generally agreed upon around these parts. Between the showing in New York (parts one and two) and packing RFK for those critical games down the stretch, it's been proven over the last couple months. However, there's something that's been bugging me. You can see it here:
Now, that was awesome. Two of the best tifos I've seen in person. The problem is that they were on display at the same time.
The red and black placards painted a stark divide. The left and right halves of the stands, while clearly having similar ideas, each went about it in their own way. Sure it looked great, but it would have been much more effective to have the entire loud side *ahem* United in their display. The Ultras/Eagles side had a cleaner, more impactful look, and the Barra created a nice effect with the flags while also adding on the "That's all I have to say, thankyouverymuch" tag. There were great ideas on both sides, but they didn't mesh.
Can anyone from the supporters groups shed any light on this for me? What's preventing the fans from cooperating over there?
