The lone goal of the match came in the eighth minute as midfielder Yann Ekra, on trial from the Harrisburg City Islanders, crossed in to Stephen King. D.C. United defeated the Philadelphia Union by a score of 1-0.
The lineup for the match also included a few other names that you might recognize. Midfielder Lance Rozeboom got his first action in black-and-red since the preseason as he is finally returning to health after an ACL tear in February. Homegrown product Conor Shanosky also made his first appearance for United in several months after his successful loan in the USL-Pro. Meanwhile, Christhyan Najar played all 90 minutes as a fullback while his brother Denis Najar came in off the bench in the second half. Additionally, this was the D.C. debut for trialist Pecka, a Brazilian midfielder from the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers.
Friday's 1-0 result was quite an improvement over the 6-0 loss to the Union just one week prior.
