Last week, D.C. United played to a hard-fought draw with defending MLS Cup Champion Colorado Rapids. This week, the Dutch champions come for a visit.
C'mon now. The Dutch can play soccer? If I want legalized marijuana and prostitution, I'll go to the Netherlands. If I want soccer, I'll go to the U.S. Amirite?! No? Am I being ethnocentric again? Psh. Okay, let's break it down.
Game time: 5:00 PM
Television: None today. Go to the stadium.
Projected starting lineup: Its hard to predict what time of lineup Coach Ben Olsen will use to start this international friendly, but we can only imagine that it will be roughly similar to the lineups used in recent weeks, while accounting for the injuries to Charlie Davies and Josh Wolff. That means that Bill Hamid will start in goal, while Perry Kitchen, Dejan Jakovic, Ethan White, and Daniel Woolard are likely to be together again in defense. The most commonly used midfield recently consists of Andy Najar, Dax McCarty, Clyde Simms, and Chris Pontius, but the team may wish to move Pontius to forward. If not, the forwards will probably be Joseph Ngwenya and Blake Brettschneider, but Santino Quaranta could also get a shot.
