Week 4: AMT 4, Readers 4, Martin 3, Chest 3.
Overall: Chest 16, AMT 16, Readers 16, Martin 14.
LA is one of MLS's best teams on the field, but they're world-class when it comes to bitching after the fact while ignoring their own lucky breaks. TFC fans can thank Abby Okulaja for both placing a chip on LA's shoulder and for not sending David Beckham off for one of the worst tackles you'll see in MLS this season. (Chest)
Never before has the Rocky Mountain Cup been for first place in the Western Conference. Maybe if RSL sends out their C team this time around, their opposition will stand a chance. Or maybe not. (Martin)
Saturday April 16, 7:00 PM: Toronto FC vs. DC United , FSC
Martin: D.C., Chest: D.C., AMT: D.C.
When Danleigh Borman is a big upgrade for your defense, your defense sucks. United's energetic approach in the midfield, combined with a likely start for Charlie Davies , should give DC the edge in what will probably be a high-scoring match. (Chest)
As great as the crowd at whatsitcalled field will be (and they will be) I don't think they'll be able to properly christen their newly reconfigured venue with a win. Even against the Fire. (AMT)
Philly looks like they're actively trying to set an all-time MLS record for lowest percentage of possession. The bus has been parked for so long that it's got a boot on all four tires. (Chest)
My "Crazy things that happen in Whitecaps home games" bingo card just needs a goal by a goalkeeper to be a winner! (Chest)
William Hesmer is tied for the league lead with three shutouts. Actually, there's only one team that's scored on him so far this season. And they did it three times. I wonder what team that might be... (Martin)
Until and unless New York gets itself figured, they are going to be the toughest team to predict this season. On any given day, they could beat RSL or lose to Portland. (AMT)
Sunday April 17, 4:00 PM: Chicago Fire vs. Los Angeles Galaxy, Telefutura
Martin: LA, Chest: Tie, AMT: LA.
With both teams playing their second match in one week, we could expect some sloppy soccer. On the other hand, we could also expect the Fire to fall apart at home as they did all last season. Yeah, I'm going with that. (Martin)
Sunday April 17, 6:00 PM: Portland Timbers vs. FC Dallas
Martin: FCD, Chest: FCD, AMT: FCD.
Unfortunately for the Rose City, David Ferreira remembered that he's David Ferreira. The rest of the league is officially on notice after that dismantling of the defending champs last weekend. (AMT)
Bobby Boswell is coming off a 1-goal, 1-assist performance. But he still couldn't beat a girl on GUTS. (Martin)
