Ah the GameThread. Last time I wrote that word, I was excited for a season to be ending. This time around, I'm excited for it to be beginning.
Just like D.C. United, we here at B&RU are making the transition from preseason form to being ready for First Kick. The level of coverage that you see here today is equal to what you should expect for match days in the 2011 season. So let's get down to business.
Game time: 5:00 pm
Television: The match will be streamed live at dcunited.com
Projected Starting Lineup: Chest got some of it right in his preview earlier today but there are some real shockers. Via United's Twitter feed, Pat Onstad will start once again. Brandon Barklage will got a surprise start at right back (evidently replacing the injured Chris Korb and Devon McTavish), and will be joined in the all-reserve back line by Rodrigo Brasesco, Ethan White, and Marc Burch. The midfield will consist of Santino Quaranta, Kurt Morsink, Stephen King, and Fred, while Blake Brettschneider and Charlie Davies will start up top/
Our biggest preseason game last year was a victory over Santos Laguna to become the first ever MLS team to win in Mexico. This is our biggest preseason game of 2011. And for most of us, its our first chance to see Davies for an extended period of time wearing black-and-red.
This is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game discussion. Let's have fun.
