MLS Fantasy Challenge - Will You Participate?

We’ve already told you about the B&RU group for ESPN’s fantasy MLS game . (You can still sign up if you haven’t yet. Group ID: 528. Password: najar)

But just today, MLSsoccer.com has unveiled a new fantasy game called the MLS Fantasy Challenge that should blow every other MLS fantasy game out of the water (assuming they run it properly). Similar to a standard fantasy football (NFL) league, this new game starts with a draft, has free agency, and every player can only be owned by one team. No salary caps, no player/team limits.

It sounds fun, but since it is a live draft, I want to gauge interest and ensure that we have enough people able to participate at a particular time in order to make this worth our while. So take a second to answer the poll question below (note that you can select multiple answers), and let me know in the comments if you feel strongly about any of these. That is if you accept the challenge.

What times would you be available to participate in a MLS fantasy draft?

  • Tuesday (TONIGHT!) March 15, 9:00 PM
  • Thursday March 17, 7:00 PM
  • Friday March 18, 7:00 PM
  • Saturday March 19, 10:00 AM
  • I want to play but am not available at any of those times
  • I'm not interested

Is the poll acting weird for you guys?

The SB Nation polling feature doesn’t let you select multiple options so I tried to use a twiigs poll, but it doesn’t seem to be showing up correctly for me.

If you click the title of the poll, it takes you to the poll on an external site

Somebody should get on the SBN dev team to get us some multi-selection polls, post haste.

Ok...

I closed and deleted the SBN poll.

Please vote in the poll now shown. If its not letting you vote directly from this page, click the link (What times would you be available to participate in a MLS fantasy draft?) to vote.

Looks like I'll be multi-tasking

Thursday and Friday night work for me, because I can watch NCAA games on my computer while we draft.

Week nights are no good for me this week

Work, y’know?

Even Friday night I’ll be celebrating my Boilers’ victory at the Bottom Line – or drowning the depression only an epic upset can bring on – and enjoying the forecast unseasonably warm temperatures. Saturday morning, drafting over the hangover – that I can do.

All that said, I can live with an auto-draft.

Saturday morning

Saturday at 10am seems to be leading the poll. Would that work for most folks? I think we need at least 8-10 people for this to be successful. I’d be open to moving it to noon instead if that would work better. With still plenty of time to tailgate!

Friday evening would work better for me

I’m flying back to DC on Saturday morning. I’m interested in playing though.

I would love to be in on this – though I’ll be terrible. If you aren’t full, of course.

Not happening

I spent way too much time with fantasy nfl football with very little reward. I would rather just attend games in person and watch on T.V. as often as my wife and kids allow.
