MLS announced its 2011 MVP in a really different sort of way. Rather than a news conference when people were, y'know, awake, they sent a media advisory email at 6:30 this morning. This image is why: DC United's own shirt sponsor, Volkswagen, had paid for a full-page ad in USA Today's weekend edition, and the league needed to be out in front with their announcement before the paper hit enough McDonald's and hotel room thresholds to let the cat out of the bag.
