GameThread: L.A. Galaxy At D.C. United

The best team in the league visits the worst team in the league. Does D.C. United stand a chance against the Los Angeles Galaxy? If our mid-week loss to the Sounders is any indication, then probably not. But United has shown signs other times this season that they are better than that. We'll find out tonight.

Game Time: 7:30 PM

Television: Fox Soccer Channel

Projected Starting Lineup: The goalkeeper will be the same, the backline will be the same. The biggest question will be whether Branko Boskovic and/or Pablo Hernandez start this match, or come off the bench like they did against Seattle. Hernandez seems likeliest to start, especially with forward Adam Cristman currently in Germany for hernia surgery. Boskovic and Hernandez will want to keep their eyes on Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle for examples of what a real playmaker and striker combination in MLS should look like.

If you've been hanging out on this blog today, then you've seenthe tips we have for beating L.A. For United to do it, they can't give up the ball as often as they did Thursday night, they have to exploit certain matchups, and they have to play tough. It won't be easy, it won't be pretty, but it must be done.

If you're going to the match, sing loud and be proud. If not, this is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game thoughts.

Hey, is there something messed up with your RSS feed? Your posts aren’t coming through on my Google Reader anymore. Could be me, but I thought I’d ask in case there’s a glitch you didn’t know about.

As for tonight… well, if New England could do it, why not DC? Donovan, schmonovan. Maybe our new guys are packing a few surprises…

Vamos!

Since you’re not the only one to ask, it’s not you. I just sent a message to SBN support. Hopefully they’ll get it fixed in the next few days.

Can't make it tonight, so glad this one ended up on TV.

Pretty decent crowd too, from what I can tell.

Well, that was pretty terrible.

This is BS. We’ve been by far the better team tonight. We deserve the 3 points.

If Pontius has a broken foot

1. Put Quaranta out wide.
2. Start Boyzz with Hernandez as a striker.
3. Start Boskovic over King—he has two weeks to get match fit before we play RSL, and he’s making DP money—get in shape or get out of town!
4. If Jacko injury is serious, start Rice not Talley.
